Ohio’s one-woman brutal death metal nightmare Cordyceps Corpse returns with her most chaotic, grotesque, and ambitious release, “Perverse Craving For Rotting Corpses”, a crushing sophomore album available now through Gore House Productions.
The brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Nani Porter, Cordyceps Corpse was born from a simple decision: stop waiting for the perfect band and create something entirely her own. After years of making music for other artists, Porter sought a more visceral outlet for her obsession with brutal death metal, slam, and goregrind. What began as bedroom recordings in late 2023 has rapidly evolved into one of the underground’s most uniquely uncompromising new acts.
With “Perverse Craving For Rotting Corpses,” Porter pushes the project further into the depths of old-school brutality while expanding her songwriting with greater technicality, contrast, and atmosphere. Inspired heavily by the golden era of 1990s and early 2000s brutal death metal, the album combines blistering speed, punishing slams, odd time signatures, and groove-driven heaviness into a listening experience designed to feel like “watching a really f*cked-up horror movie.”
“I wanted to dive deeper into that classic brutal death metal sound. Fast, chaotic riffs are what make slams hit harder. If every riff is a slam, nothing stands out. This album is all about contrast between chaos and groove,” adds Porter
The record emerged from an intense creative surge that saw Porter write 26 songs over the course of only a few months before narrowing the material down to the album’s final 11 tracks. The result is a focused barrage of brutality that showcases a more refined and structured approach without sacrificing the feral energy that has become a hallmark of the project.
Lyrically, “Perverse Craving For Rotting Corpses” follows the twisted narrative of a supernatural serial killer whose power grows through consuming her victims. Influenced by true crime media, horror films, and the notorious legacy of Aileen Wuornos, the album presents a disturbing fictional world that intentionally flips many of the traditional power dynamics commonly found within extreme metal’s lyrical themes.
Musically, tracks such as the title cut, “Thoracic Bifurcation,” “Fermented Remains,” and “Penetrating Ocular Trauma” showcase Cordyceps Corpse‘s ability to move effortlessly between blast-beat-driven chaos and cavernous slam sections. For fans of brutal death metal, slam, goregrind, and the raw spirit of underground DIY extremity, “Perverse Craving For Rotting Corpses” stands as Cordyceps Corpse‘s most complete statement to date.
Recommended for fans of Devourment, .357 Homicide, Cephalotripsy, Kraanium, and Corpse Pile, “Perverse Craving For Rotting Corpses” is available digitally and on cassette from Gore House Productions as of October 9th, 2026.

About Cordyceps Corpse:
Cordyceps Corpse is the solo sonic nightmare of Ohio‑based multi‑instrumentalist Nani Porter, mutating brutal death metal, slam, and goregrind into something feral, chaotic, and unmistakably her own. Everything from writing, recording, mixing, artwork, and performance is done entirely by her. Cordyceps Corpse isn’t a band. It’s a one‑woman horror machine.
