Annual Two-Day Caerphilly Cheese Festival Draws Thousands

This year’s annual Caerphilly Cheese Festival took place on the 29th and 30th August, attracting more than 10,000 visitors who enjoyed the two-day event.

A wide range of stalls selling food and drink, alongside craft and information stands, were on offer throughout the weekend. Visitors also enjoyed a host of family-friendly activities, including fairground rides, donkey rides, free crazy golf and free circus workshops. Live music performances took place across two dedicated entertainment areas and many traders sold out during the weekend.

Marking the tenth event of 2026, the festival once again demonstrated the success of the events programme in attracting visitors to the town centre.

Caerphilly will next be host to the Caerphilly Mini Festive Fair, Light Switch-on and Fireworks Display featuring the River of Light Lantern Parade on Friday 20th November 2026 and Caerphilly Christmas Market on Saturday 21st November 2026.

These events play an important role in raising the profile of our town centres, showcasing the wide range of local businesses on offer and encouraging repeat visits from residents and visitors alike. For full details of upcoming events, visit the Visit Caerphilly website and social media channels.

So far this year, the ten events delivered across our town centres have attracted almost 50,000 visitors.

Thank you to Caerphilly Town Council for financially supporting the Caerphilly Cheese event.

Hear what local businesses and traders thought of the Caerphilly Cheese Festival:

Paul Mansford, leader of Rock Choir – “Great to be singing at the Caerphilly Cheese Festival! As always in Caerphilly, we have a great welcome and we were very pleased the rain stayed away!”

Crafty Legs Events – “Wow, Caerphilly, what a weekend! The support for small local businesses has been great. Locals, tourists and everyone else who visited us at Caerphilly Cheese Festival, thank you.”

Mike of Cwm Deri – “Thank you for the organisation which was, as always, flawless. The location for this year’s festival worked better for us traders and we have done well. I noticed, in particular, how clean the town centre was and the enormous number of bins well distributed. Thank you to all the team involved.”

Anonymous Trader – “This year’s Caerphilly Cheese was absolutely superb. Despite the challenging weather, we still enjoyed really good footfall and a fantastic atmosphere throughout the weekend, and pretty much sold out on both days.”
